The State Duma of the Russian Federation has announced a decision to create deputy groups for relations with the governments of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics. The corresponding statement was made by the chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin in a telegram.

“The Council of the State Duma has decided to establish deputy groups for relations with the parliaments of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics, headed by deputies Dmitry Sablin and Viktor Vodolatsky,” Volodin said. The Chairman of the State Duma explained that Russia needs to develop relations not only through the relevant committees, but also within the framework of inter-parliamentary cooperation.

On February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree recognizing the independence of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics. Later, on February 24, 2022, the head of state announced a special operation to demilitarize Ukraine. The Russian leader noted that the goals of the operation are to help the republics of Donbass and liberate the residents of DNR and LNR from the genocide of the Ukrainian authorities.
