David Cronenberg returns to body horror in the teaser of “Crimes of the Future” with Kristen Stewart

A native Canadian director David Cronenberg known as an outstanding connoisseur of a specific subgenre of body horror. Much of his career as a director is centered on various mutations in the human body, as can be seen in Scanners, Videodrome, Fly, or Existence. However, in the 2000s, the director’s attention shifted from external to internal manifestations – the plots of the films were more like a gloomy noir than a sickening horror.

To the delight of all fans, Cronenberg returns to his favorite topic with a new fantasy film “Crimes of the future”, a kind of remake of his 1970 film of the same name. In the near future, people have learned to transform their own organisms through the “syndrome of accelerated evolution.” The main character is a performer who demonstrates to the public the metamorphosis of his own body. His performances are followed by a mysterious group whose goal is to shed light on the next phase of human evolution. You can evaluate the iconic motifs in the official teaser.

The main parts in the film were played by Viggo Mortensen, Lea Seydou and Kristen Stewart. The film has already been selected for the Cannes Film Festival 2022 – the premiere of “Crimes of the Future” will take place in June.
