Detroit - Rangers - 4: 5 OT

Artemiy made three effective actions in the game with “Detroit”, including a pass to the winning goal.

March 2022 is extremely unsuccessful for Detroit. After winning a tense game with “Carolina” at the beginning of the month, the “wings” managed to go through a six-match losing streak and won only twice (and one of them – the poor “Philadelphia”) out of 12 possible. A kind of “icing on the cake” was the devastating failure of the Red Wings during a trip to Pittsburgh, where the “penguins” led by Eugene Malkin did not leave a stone unturned from the wards of Jeff Blaschill. 2:11 – the NHL has not seen such defeats for 19 years.

“One of the greatest of all time.” Malkin made a hat-trick and repeated the Russian NHL record!

In the first game after the fiasco in Pennsylvania, Detroit hosted the Rangers, who, on the contrary, are doing great. They also dealt with the same “Penguins” twice in four days, and won 10 of 14 matches in March, and approached today’s meeting with three victories in a row. They also opened the scoring thanks to Ryan Reeves’ first goal since January 20.

However, then none other than Георги Alexander Georgiev came to the aid of the “wings”. Yes, it is on the conscience of the Russian goalkeeper, who came out today from the first minutes, are both missed goals of “Rangers” in the first period. Michael Rasmussen and Jakub Vrana should be very grateful to Alexander for improving their personal performance.

Fortunately for Georgiev, Gerard Gallan left him in the game, and the New Yorkers equalized in just 11 seconds, although at the beginning of the second period were again behind. And then another Russian came to the fore – Artemy Panarin. The Winger of the Blue Shirts regained parity in the middle of the match, hitting the top corner of Alex Nedelkovich’s touch after a very convenient pass from newcomer Frank Vatrano, who joined the team from Broadway.

The third twenty minutes started again with the home team’s goal, but Khlebushka and Ko found their answer to this as well. Four minutes before the end of his transfer, Chris Crider, who spent an incredible season, was able to bring the Rangers back into the game, not without the help of a ricochet from the skate of Moritz Seider, realizing the majority.

The game went into overtime, where everything was decided quickly enough. Another newcomer of the “Rangers” Andrew Kopp and Panarin outplayed the entire defense of the “wings” – gave a pass to Artemiya from the middle zone, reached the far post and from there reacted to the return pass, which the Russian made with magical ease.

For Panarin, who made three productive actions today, the goal in overtime was the 80th point of the season – a little earlier, Kirill Kaprizov was the first Russian to reach the same mark in this regular season. At the same time, Artemy already has 370 assists in the NHL. This is the fourth result in the history of the league among the top strikers in the first seven seasons. Panarin overtook Luke Robitail, ahead of only Guy Lafleur (384), Mike Bossi (385) and Jari Curry (398). The Rangers have 14 more games left – the top 2 doesn’t seem so unrealistic.
