The other day a young rock band “Picci!” released a cover of Grigory Leps’ song “I don’t love you”. Producer Viktor Drobysh, who wrote the lyrics to this composition, helped the children to create a new version of the legendary hit.
The website of Radio Komsomolskaya Pravda spoke with members of the Picchi! Group: Anton Bochkarev, Yevgeny Levin, Stanislav Tsitsulin and Oleg Sedantsov. We asked the musicians how this song was created and how Victor Drobysh helped them.
How did you end up at Victor Drobysh’s anniversary concert?
In the summer of 2021 we performed at the largest rock festival Fox Rock Fest in Lipetsk, one of the organizers was Victor Yakovlevich. In the process of preparation, we met him and his team. And, what is very nice, they liked our performance, they remembered us. In November we were written and invited to perform at the anniversary concert. Of course, we immediately agreed!
Did you manage to meet one of the artists there on the anniversary?
We managed to communicate with the group The Hatters. They found them in the dressing room, chatted and took a picture. Unfortunately, it was not possible to get to know and communicate with the others: everyone was busy preparing to go on stage.
Why did you decide to sing this particular song?
Because she is best suited to what we do. We are very pleased with the result! We think that it should not be compared with the original performance, because in both versions you can find something close to the heart.
How was the songwriting process?
The song was created as usual: we made a demo – our vision of this track, showed it to Viktor Yakovlevich, discussed all the moments related to music, and recorded with him in the studio.
Did Gregory Leps hear your cover?
We don’t know if Gregory Leps heard our version of his song, but hopefully, if he did, he liked it.
And what kind of cover? It looks like some new gender. What’s the point?
This is the gender of our group. Just an ordinary person, like anyone in this world, lies on the soft green grass, which portends the imminent arrival of heat, just enjoys life from the fact that he found his main advantage and will not buy this movie again.
After the release of this track, you got on the cover of the playlist “Russian wave of pop rock” in VK, which already has 1.5 million listens.
We are very happy to be on the cover of the playlist. It is always a very happy event for us if our song is added to one of the top playlists, and even more so, our photo on the cover. We have been added before. And it is very good that music venues meet the needs of young artists and help them develop.
Increasingly, young musicians are recording covers of old hits. Why is this happening?
We think that history is cyclical in music, including young musicians who simply hear in it some pressing topic that everyone has forgotten about, and want to tell about it again through their own prism.
While young people record covers for hits, “old men” are actively recording hits with new artists. Who would you like to sing with?

What to expect from you in the near future?
Soon we will present a new spring single and play a concert in honor of the band’s birthday on May 19 in Moscow at the club “16 tons”. By the way, for those who come, we are preparing an exclusive surprise. So come on!
