The 64th Grammy Awards ceremony took place on April 4 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. At the very beginning of the show, the hosts mentioned the scandal at the Oscars with Will Smith, jokingly emphasizing that there will be nothing like that in the Grammys – only “dancing, songs and awards.”
The winner of the ceremony was musician John Batiste, who won five nominations, including “Album of the Year” for “We Are”. “Leave The Door Open” performed by the American duo Silk Sonic was recognized as the best recording and song.
One of the major Grammy Awards went to 19-year-old singer Olivia Rodrigo. She took three statuettes, including “Best New Artist” and “Best Vocal Pop Album”. The singer also claimed the “Best Album”, but still lost to Batista.
Comedian Louis C. Kay was also among the winners – he won the nomination “Best Comedy Album” for his stand-up “Sincerely Louis CK”. This is his first award after a major sexual harassment scandal.
