Rachael Gass Organizational Consulting and Coaching helps people and organizations thrive by looking inward and unlocking key motivations

That quote by Albert Einstein is a core value of Racheal Gass Organizational Consulting and Coaching.

In her website, Gass indicated, “Human capital is your organization’s number one resource. Employee engagement starts with culture. Investing in your people to lead where they sit improves engagement. My core focus is on enhancing engagement through a culture first, data rich, and process improvement approach.”

Rachael Gass’s people-first approach includes organizational development, team building and facilitation, and leadership development. She is an executive coach, consultant by nature and an experienced facilitator. She is passionate about ensuring people who work in corporate settings have an uplifting, gratifying and authentic experience. Her emphasis on organization effectiveness through active research culminates in developing and delivering energizing people engagement programs.

Gass grew up in New York. She attended University at Arizona State and spent 20 years in corporate America, including Kaiser Permanente, Perot Systems, Unisys and Sandhills Publishing, among others. Gass has a Master of Science in organizational psychology from Walden University. She and her family recently relocated from the San Francisco bay area to Central Oregon.

Gass, her husband and daughter love Prineville. Gass, whose husband has an avid interest in astrophotography, was drawn by the “dark sky” in Central Oregon. Dark sky denotes a location where the darkness of the night sky is relatively free of interference from artificial light, which is desirable for photographers. There are two dark sky places in Oregon — Sunriver and Prineville Reservoir State Park.

“Dark sky was kind of the number one reason,” Gass indicated of their decision to choose Prineville for a home. “I have a 7-year-old, so we wanted a nice community for her too, and Prineville seemed like a great balance for all the things.”

Early in her career, after working for a publishing company that did the Kelly Blue Book for construction equipment for a time, Rachael Gass moved to Spain for one year. She attended a small language school in the south portion of Spain and later was awarded an internship in Madrid for four months.

She returned to the United States to find herself in the midst of a recession.

“It took me a little while to find a job, and I was young and inexperienced,” she went on to say.

She moved to Arizona, where she worked for a medical company for three years. She worked for Kaizer Permanente as chief of staff for the marketing department, with approximately 150 people that she oversaw. She had a young child, and she decided it was too demanding on her and her family.

“It was like I just cannot do it; timewise, energy wise, values ​​wide — it was just too emotional for me. I said, ‘This is a really good time for me to go out on my own,'” she explained.

Gass decided to take six months off and went through a coaching program.

“I have always liked coaching and therapy, and I have had coaches, and I thought, ‘This will be a great thing that I will do in conjunction to my business consulting.'”

She had a background in project management, program management, IT and finance.

“I grew up in that space, and I felt like I can always do that,” Gass added.

After she completed the coaching, she found that she was very connected to the people. Her instructor encouraged them to do a group coaching program.

“Because I was project manager, facilitating meetings is what I do and what I excel at, and it seemed pretty straight forward for me to try it that way. I did, and I kicked off my first group coaching about one year and one half ago.”

She has run six different groups through her eight-week program. Her programs include a topic every week, and she coaches her clients to lead at whatever level they are at — regardless of where they are. She brings in topics that are relevant to everyone in the workplace. She shares the concept and encourages everyone to bring their real-life experiences, challenges and successes to the group.

“It’s a lot of coaching each other.”

She added that she believes that the answer lies inside of them, and she is there to facilitate and draw that out. In addition, the group is encouraged to share with each other, ask questions and learn from one another. Gass brings her prior experience into the conversation when it is appropriate.

“A lot of what I start with all clients on is around your values ​​— lets hone in on your values, and you use those to make decisions as your north star, to guide the work that you do and how you show up for your other folks.”

Gass markets through word of mouth, and she has people who are from different companies and all different genres. She noted that one group was all early mid-career women.

“I did not design it that way, but that is how it happened. It was awesome and it was super powerful, and they were just so happy to know that they were not alone. Most of the stuff that we deal with in the workplace is not terribly unique. It transcends what industry, what position — these are all interpersonal things that really hang people up.”

“Group coaching is great, because it is a very cost-effective way for folks to experience coaching and learn in that kind of environment.”

She concluded that invites one-on-one free consultations to schedule time with her through her website so they can experience some coaching and the difference between coaching and consulting.
