Sanctions against Russia in general and the Urals in particular

The US authorities must stop imposing sanctions that harm them and their allies. This was stated by Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov.

“We call on the American authorities to stop waving the sanctions baton, which strikes at the United States and its allies,” Anatoly Antonov was quoted as saying in the embassy’s telegram channel. He added that the White House was trying to demonstrate “its uncompromising attitude by expanding illegitimate sanctions lists.”

The diplomat stressed that Washington is purposefully trying to stop Russia’s technological development. “Restrictions, as always, are accompanied by unsubstantiated accusations and insinuations,” Antonov said.

EU countries, as well as the United States, Canada, Japan and a number of other countries, have imposed tough sanctions against Russia over Russia’s special operation in Ukraine. According to the Russian authorities, all previous sanctions have had a negative effect on Western countries as well: payment and logistics systems have been disrupted, inflation is rising, and cooperative ties have been broken. Due to these consequences, there is no unity within the Western community to continue this line: for example, Hungary is blocking a new package of European sanctions, and a number of countries are actively expressing dissatisfaction with the situation on the energy market. The rating of US President Joe Biden has fallen to a historic low: according to an Ipsos poll conducted on March 20-21, it was 40% against 44% in February 2022. Biden’s anti-rating is growing: in February, 51% of the population did not approve of his activities, in March – 54%.
