The organization announced on its website that Team Spirit has moved its office to the Serbian capital. According to team leader Nikita Chukalin, the club has suspended expansion in Russia and relocated staff “for ethical and practical reasons due to the situation in Ukraine.”

A unique feature of e-sports has always been its accessibility. Wherever you live, whatever you do, whatever you believe in – the door to e-sports has always been open for you. However, everything is changing, and one of these changes has become the current situation between Russia and Ukraine, where many of our players and employees come from.

Given all the circumstances, among which there are both practical and ethical, the decision to change the location is the only correct one.

In Team Spirit, Serbia was chosen for the relocation because the country was close in terms of geographical location, accessibility of legalization of residence and economic component. By March 24, Dota 2 and CS: GO teams arrived in Belgrade for the boot camp, as well as about 60% of the staff from Russia, Ukraine and Belarus.

At the moment, we can only say unequivocally that we will open an office in Belgrade and organize a boot camp space. This does not mean that we are leaving Russia “slamming the door”, but for the well-being of our players and employees, this decision is an absolute necessity.

Chukalin also answered the question of which country Team Spirit will associate itself with. According to him, nothing will change in this regard.

There are no national leagues in e-sports, no culture of national teams. E-sports is an online space, and we gather the strongest teams without regard to the nationality of the player and without the goal of assembling a team under a certain flag.

We associate ourselves with the entire Russian-speaking e-sports community and this will never change. We are dear to our true fans and people who experienced our ups and downs with us. We will continue to communicate with the audience and produce content in Russian.

As for the issue of changing the citizenship of players, Chukalin said that this issue is individual for each team member and the club will not affect it in any way. The head of Team Spirit also assured that the relocation was not related to the team’s desire to retain sponsors.

In October 2021, Team Spirit won the Dota 2 World Championship – The International 10. The team earned $ 18.2 million. Among other things, the team was congratulated on the victory by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
