Foreign agents of the Russian Federation
The Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation has included blogger, historian and publicist Yevgeny Ponasenkov and seven other people in the register of foreign media agents. This was reported on Friday on the website of the department.
This register includes: blogger Yevgeny Ponasenkov, founder of The Bell Elizaveta Osetinskaya, journalist of the Dozhd TV channel (recognized as a foreign agent in Russia) Maria Borzunova, journalist of the Dagestani weekly Novoye Delo Murad Muradov, journalist Irina Malkova, SMI correspondent recognized in Russia as a foreign media agent) Alla Konstantinova, as well as Viktor Vorobiev and Anna Golubeva.
Earlier, Roskomnadzor restricted access to the websites of Medusa (recognized as a foreign media agent in Russia), Radio Svoboda (also included by the Ministry in the list of media outlets serving as a foreign agent in Russia), Mediazone and the BBC. According to Roskomnadzor, these media outlets called for mass riots, extremism and participation in illegal actions, as well as posted false information about the special operation in Ukraine. Andrei Lugovoy, the first deputy head of the State Duma’s Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption and a member of the Liberal Democratic Party, took the initiative to create a single law on foreign agents, which would tighten responsibility.
