In case of a long illness of the leader of the LDPR party Vladimir Zhirinovsky, possible successors to his post are being discussed. Among the possible options – the governor of the Khabarovsk Territory Mikhail Degtyarev, as well as State Duma deputies Andrei Lugovoy, Yaroslav Nilov and Alexei Didenko.

According to the newspaper, the second candidate for Zhirinovsky’s post is Lugovoi. The candidacies of Nilov and Didenko are also being considered. However, according to the insider, they are “less preferable”.
LDPR spokesman Alexander Dupin told the publication that there was no question of changing the faction leader. According to him, Zhirinovsky remains the “undisputed leader”, all deputies hope for his speedy recovery.
In early February, Vladimir Zhirinovsky was hospitalized for coronavirus infection, despite being vaccinated 8 times against the virus. He was sent to the Central Clinical Hospital in Moscow. On February 26, it became known that Zhirinovsky was connected to the ventilator and put to sleep. However, his condition soon improved – the politician regained consciousness. On March 25, a number of media outlets reported that Zhirinovsky had died. However, the speaker of the State Duma of Russia Vyacheslav Volodin denied the news. A similar statement was soon made by the Ministry of Health.
