On Friday, April 1, the United States announced a new round of export sanctions: 120 Russian and Belarusian organizations were added to the existing list of companies subject to restrictions. The US Department of Commerce claims that it has acquired or attempted to purchase goods subject to export regulation to support and modernize the two countries’ armed forces.
“The US government has determined that the actions of these 120 organizations are contrary to the interests of national security or foreign policy of the United States,” the document said.
The listed organizations are subject to the provisions of the US Export Regulation Act. The website of the United States Department of Industry and Trade states that these companies will be cut off from American goods, technologies and software that they can use to support a special operation in Ukraine.
Among the companies on the list are the Federal Center for Dual Technologies Soyuz, JSC Energia, the Novosibirsk plant Elektrosignal, JSC Uralement and the company JSC Far Eastern Zvezda, located in Bolshoi Kamn.
It should be noted that Zvezda became the only organization from the Primorsky Krai, which is listed in the “April Fool’s Day list”. Judging by the markings on the document, it will be officially published in the federal register only on April 7, but the government’s website states that the decision of the US Bureau of Industry and Security to include Russian and Belarusian companies in the sanctions list is effective from April 1.
JSC Far Eastern Zvezda is the leading submarine repair company in the Pacific Fleet and the only one in the Far East specializing in the repair, re-equipment and modernization of nuclear submarine-carrying ships. So, after repair and modernization here the nuclear submarine cruiser with cruise missiles “Omsk” became a part of TOF. The nuclear submarines Irkutsk and Magadan were also repaired and modernized at Zvezda.
The Far Eastern plant should not be confused with the neighboring Zvezda Sports Complex, which was created on its basis.
We will remind, earlier VL.ru wrote that the businessman Gleb Frank sold the share in the enterprises of RRPK and “Russian crab” after got under the sanctions of the USA. And another company in Vladivostok, the Dalzavod Ship Repair Center, is on Japan’s list of export restrictions.
