Hello everybody! I think we have already heard that Apple (allegedly!) In the coming weeks will disable the ability to replenish the App Store in any way. We are already left without Apple Pay, without official sales in Russia and spring novelties. It all comes down to the fact that by the end of spring we will be left without an iPhone at all.
I hope I’m wrong. But if not, it seems to me that time to buy a smartphone on Android. Yes, just in case.
I began to look at what was still available in the country and realized that it was a serious problem. It is clear that there is no full-fledged replacement of the iPhone in principle. The iPhone remains the iPhone. But the options are to temporarily replace it or wear it with another device is.
I hope my observations will help decide on the purchase of Apple equipment owners, who are afraid to stay with the brick indefinitely in the future.
What is important for a budget Android smartphone in Russia?
To narrow down the search, I highlighted a few key pointswhat should this Android smartphone correspond to:
▪ price up to 35 thousand rubles
▪ NFC support
▪ screen with a resolution of at least FullHD
▪ processor at the level of at least iPhone X
▪ at least 6 GB of RAM
▪ small number of technical and software problems.
I do not take into account the quality of photos and more videos on the camera. This is a very difficult issue in the world of Android. Devices with a really good camera are at the level of the iPhone 13, ie closer to 100 thousand rubles. It is illogical to take such accessories “on time”.
The following three smartphones met these criteria.
1. POCO X3 Pro
Average price in Russia: 30 thousand rubles
Absolutely the best option for the money, though not new. A very popular device among the people, tested lengthwise and crosswise. The processor is not “Chinese” – Snapdragon 860, which can handle even heavy games. There are versions with 6 or 8 GB of RAM.
NFC is complete. Huge, high-quality 6.67-inch screen with a resolution of 2400 × 1080 pixels and a frequency of 120 Hz. It doesn’t work for very long (due to the screen frequency), but it lasts a day.
The design is outdated in every sense, but for the money it’s not scary. There are small issues, such as the rare phantom clicks in some and the instability of Wi-Fi. But they have long been resolved by the community. There are 3,000 pages of comments in the branch of this smartphone on the whole well-known site – so if you face problems, you will find a solution for them.
2. Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite
Average price in Russia: 32 thousand rubles
A good model that is gaining popularity in Russia. Released in 2022. Pleases both the design (looks good live) and the shape of the screen – “chin” is almost gone! The screen here is 6.55 inches with a resolution of 2400×1080 pixels, maximum frequency 90 Hz, there is HDR support. Snapdragon 732G processor, the game pulls without fanaticism. 8 GB of RAM.
There are problems with the proximity sensor, the forums are flooded with them. It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post. The battery does not last long, but most last for one day.
4G and 5G versions available. In addition, they have a different processor: the 5G version is Snapdragon 778G. Nevertheless, I would recommend the 4G version. All the same, you are unlikely to play games on it, and the “budget” model will cope with work tasks.
3. HUAWEI new 8i
Average price in Russia: 24 thousand rubles
The main advantage of this model is the lack of Google services. That is, if Google blocks Android in Russia, this smartphone will still be used without looking for workarounds. However, the downside is the same: without Google services, it is still not as convenient to live as with them.
6.67 inch screen with a resolution of 2376 × 1080 pixels. There is NFC. There is no Google App Store, but there is a Huawei App Market. There you can download, say, MIR Pay and pay for purchases through it in a contactless way.
6 GB of RAM, processor – Snapdragon 662, not for top toys. Smart has a lot of small problems, you can’t call it perfect. But of all available in Russia, it is probably the most protected from any kind of Western sanctions. Such a plus.
PS If you have other recommendations for models, please write in the answers to my article. Thanks!
